What's in the Mystery Box?

We love the Mystery Box.  I can't tell the children what's inside.  The children try to figure out what is inside by asking "yes" or "no" questions about the object.  They are learning how to ask questions but more importantly they are learning about attributes.
They can ask questions about....

They guessed what was inside the mystery box!

It's a Bear!   Don't forget to bring your bears to school next week!

Letters and Rhyme

We have fun learning our letters and rhyming words.
We loved fishing for Ff's.

We drew a rhyme.  It ended up being a clown!

BOTG and Stock and Flows

We are learning how to become  "System Thinkers."  This week we introduced the class to a stock and flow chart and to a BOTG (behavior over time graph).

We used the stock and flow chart to review how to be "Bucket Fillers" and not "Bucket Dippers."

We introduced a "BOTG" (Behavior over time graph).  We graphed how we felt throughout the day.

Third Grade Buddies

Meet our Third Grade Buddies.  We call them "Curriculum Chums."  We will do a lot of fun projects together this year and we have fun learning from each other.  We meet once a week.

More Senses!

We had a great time learning about our sense of touch.  We passed around bags full of things.  The children had to guess what was inside by feeling the object.  They recorded their predictions.

We read the story,  Ferdinand the Bull.  We smelled different things in jars.

We used our sense of sight to observe a tree in the summer time.  We were scientists and drew what we saw.  We can't wait to see what it will look like in the Fall.

More Chicka Chicka Boom Boom

We finished up our Chicka Chicka Boom Boom unit learning about letters.  Check it out!

10 Black Dots

We enjoyed counting and learning about our numbers this week.  Check out our video.

Alike and Different

We talked about likenesses and differences.

We broke up into partners and talked about how we were the same and different.

We shared our findings with the rest of the class.

Then we wanted to know how many boys and girls there were in the class.  Do we have more boys or more girls?
So we counted.  We found out that there are more boys in the classroom.

We enjoyed eating Hershey candybars.

We saved our wrappers and graphed our findings.
We have more he's than she's.
