Addition and Subtraction

We have been working hard on our addition and subtraction skills.  Each day we had a whole group lesson and then practiced our skills in centers.

How many do I have behind my back?

Bump!

One more than...

How many did I have behind my back?

We practiced writing a subtraction sentence using a ten frame.

Make a match...Make 10 with ten frames.

Roll a Sum!

How many pom poms are out of the circle?  How many are in the circle?

5th grade yard sale

We had fun at the 5th grade yard sale!

Getting Ready for Winter

We made a circle map of  the many ways we get ready for winter.

We read the story A Bed for the Winter.  We discussed each story element.

We read The Mitten  and wrote one sentence about the beginning, middle and end.

We read the story Move Over Rover! and compared it to the story The Mitten.

What's in the bag?  Students had to grab an object out of the bag and segment each sound.  We had to guess what the item was.

What number is missing?

What comes next?

Count and stamp.

What season does your birthday fall in?

We read Animals in Winter.  We learned that animals get ready for winter too.  Some animals hibernate, some migrate, some hunt, and some store food.  We made a tree map of what we learned and then made a flip book.
