Creating mice tails.

Bats

We continued to learn about living organisms as we learned about different animals.  We sorted animals by their characteristics.  We also learned that some animals are nocturnal.  We had fun turning our learning focus on bats.

What do you already know about bats?

We wrote facts about bats.

We read Stellaluna,  and made a story map, sequencing the pictures.
We used the interactive writing process to write sentences under the pictures.

Our third grade buddies came and together we learned the difference between fiction and nonfiction books.

How cute are these bats?  They were yummy!

We broke up into groups and painted an October mural.

We used the interactive writing process to label our pictures.

We also used our mural to help us learn about positional words.

I wished I took pictures of the children acting like bats outside!  They were using echolocation to find their food.

Our Fall Tree

Is this the same tree?  Yes!  We drew our tree in the Fall time and compared the two.
