Congratulations Kaden!

Congratulations to our Room Mom Kristie and big brother Kaden!

Our Promise

We learned why Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was so important and how he helped changed the world.  We wrote our own dreams for the world.

Your child recently accepted Rachel's Challenge (to be kind to one another). To find out more follow the link above.

Fun!

5th Grade Yard Sale!

Shapes!

We have been learning about shapes and comparing how they are alike and different.

Which shape will I pick?
How are we going to teach our shape to the class?

Shapes can be symmetrical.

The Firehouse Light

Kevin Rice came out and visited our classroom last Friday as a parent reader.  He read the story, The Firehouse Light.  You have to check out the website of the oldest lightbulb that is still burning!

The Arctic

This week we visited the Arctic.  We read a story about a little girl who lives in the Arctic region and compared her daily life with our own.  The children decided that she had too many chores to help her survive the cold winter and they rather stay in North Carolina.

Animals that live in the Arctic have blubber to keep them warm.  We made a "blubber" glove and our hands stayed warm!

How many black and white animals can we name?

We read a nonfiction book about Penguins.

We made our own nonfiction book about penguins.

Catch!  Did your hands land on the Arctic or Antarctica?

Walking like a penguin with an egg is hard work!

Symmetrical or not symmetrical?

"Ok class, we are going to have a snowball fight."

Snowballs were made by writing our name on a sheet of paper and crumbling it up.  We had a great time throwing our snowballs.  When the bell rang, we had to open up a nearby snowball and say "Good Morning" to our friend whose name was on the snowball.
