The Arctic

This week we visited the Arctic.  We read a story about a little girl who lives in the Arctic region and compared her daily life with our own.  The children decided that she had too many chores to help her survive the cold winter and they rather stay in North Carolina.

Animals that live in the Arctic have blubber to keep them warm.  We made a "blubber" glove and our hands stayed warm!

How many black and white animals can we name?

We read a nonfiction book about Penguins.

We made our own nonfiction book about penguins.

Catch!  Did your hands land on the Arctic or Antarctica?

Walking like a penguin with an egg is hard work!

Symmetrical or not symmetrical?

                                                           Sorting ending sounds.

"Ok class, we are going to have a snowball fight."

Snowballs were made by writing our name on a sheet of paper and crumbling it up.  We had a great time throwing our snowballs.  When the bell rang, we had to open up a nearby snowball and say "Good Morning" to our friend whose name was on the snowball.
