Thanksgiving Long Ago

We started off our unit learning about the pilgrims and how they traveled across the ocean to find freedom.

We had a great time acting out the Mayflower voyage.  We even enjoyed a Mayflower meal.  We ate cheese,  unsalted crackers, beef jerky and had some water.

Some of us enjoyed the meal...some of us would not of survived on the Mayflower.

We enjoyed Pilgrim hats for snack.  Thanks Joshua!

We compared our daily life with those of long ago.

We learned about the Wampanoag Tribe and how they helped the pilgrims.

We made a "Grateful Turkey" with our 3rd grade buddies.

We collected non perishable food items that was donated to the Clemmons Food Bank.  We sorted and counted our donation. We had 42 nonperishable food items.

We made Thanksgiving retell bracelets and was able to retell the story of  the First Thanksgiving.

Some of our morning centers.

Our Pattern Block Turkey.
We read a nonfiction book about turkeys and made a tree map to organize our thoughts before writing facts about turkeys.

Our Turkey Pie Graph.

Happy Birthday!

We made our own butter before our Thanksgiving Feast.  It was Yummy!
