Down on the Farm

We are learning about how important farms are and how we get many products from farms.  We read The Town  Mouse and the Country Mouse.  Most of the children decided that they rather be a town mouse than a country mouse.

Check out some of our Farm Centers...

Farmer Brown wrote us a letter and wanted each of the students to write a book about farms and farm animals to others so they would know all about farms.

So, we started learning about the writing process.

Every time we read a nonfiction book about farms or a farm animal we took notes in our
"Farm Facts" notebooks.

We read Mrs. Wishy Washy while learning about pigs and of course mud.

A baby piglet weighs about 3 pounds.  What weighs more than, less than and the same as a piglet?

We made real mud with dirt and water. What does mud look like?  What does mud smell like?  How does mud feel?  What does mud sound like?

Then we made edible mud.  Yum!

We compared the two.

Learning about sheep.

Learning about cows and Dairy products.

How does ice cream get from the cow to the store?

Making ice cream with baggies...

Shake, shake, shake.
