Flat Stanley

We started reading Flat Stanley by Jeff Brown.

We are waiting for our Flat Stanley's to come back!
In chapter one we learned that Stanley was FLAT as a pancake....

SO...

We just had to make pancakes.

What shape is your pancake?

We read If You Give a Pig Pancake...

and played Jeopardy answering questions about the story.

We broke up into partners and learned about cause and effect.

"I'll share the cause and you share the effect."

In Chapter 2, we learned that Flat Stanley flew to California in an envelope by jet.

So...

We just had to make paper airplanes.  We flew our planes and marked where each one landed.  We used directional vocabulary (next to, close, near, far) to discuss where each plane landed.

The children were so excited to learn how to fold an airplane.  Check out this website to learn how to make more paper airplanes.

"Dionisia lost a tooth, Dionisia lost a tooth, smile at us so
we can see, Dionisia lost a tooth" we all sang, when Dionisia's
tooth fell out.

100th Day of School

Science Fair

We visited the science fair.  We were amazed at all of the projects.

Stephen enjoyed sharing his project with us.  Which material conducts electricity?

Our Class Project

We enjoyed eating lunch in the classroom.

Groundhog Day

We celebrated Groundhog Day learning about its orgins as well as facts about the animal, the groundhog.

We read Substitute Groundhog and made Help Wanted posters.

We made and ate Groundhog Cupcakes.

Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday Dinoisia!

Save our Home!

After learning about habitats, we discussed how to take care of our home and the home of animals.  We will reduce, recycle, and reuse.

Fun with Fiddles

The Winston Salem Quartet came and taught us about the string family.  We enjoyed listening to them play and  had the oppportunity to play the violin or cello.

Heart Healthy

This month is Heart Healthy month.  On Friday, we discussed three ways to take care of our hearts (eat healthy, don't smoke and excerise).  We wore red for National Red Day.
