Seeds and Plants

We are having fun learning about seeds and plants.  We examined seeds and soaked them overnight in water.  We were surprised the next day to see that they doubled in size.  We were able to take a look at the inside of a seed and saw a baby plant.

We put a bean in a baggie and hung them in the window with a wet paper towel to see if we could sprout our own seed.

We learned about what a seed needs to grow.

And we had fun learning about the parts of a plant.

We ate all the parts of a plant!

Shape Fun

We finished up our shape unit.  The children enjoyed making 3-D shapes.

A cube has 6 faces.

Earth Day

We celebrated Earth Day (which should be everyday) by learning about underground gardeners, worms.  We explored worms and were amazed about what these little creatures do for our Earth.  We made a cinquain poem (which I forgot to take a picture of).

We made real mud and made our own edible mud.  We made a venn diagram comparing the two.

We made chocolate pudding (mud) with cookie crumbs (dirt), and of course added a gummy worm.

We picked up trash around the school with our 3rd grade buddies.
